Unified Italy in the art collection owned by the Cariplo Foundation and three private local collections
This project was developed from a teaching activity. In 2010, the “Liceo classico Manzoni” took part to the “Olympics of the cultural heritage 2010” and they ranked third. The award-winnng work, called “Unified Italy in the art collection owned by the Cariplo Foundation”, was focused on the enhancement of the artistic cultural heritage of the area of Lecco. This was the original idea from which developed an exhibition dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the Unification of Italy.
Unified Italy in the collection owned by the Cariplo Foundation and in other private local collections.
The purpose of the project is to critically reflect, through the language of art production in Lombardy, historical events of the second half of the XIX century that led to the Unification of Italy.
The exhibition is formed by 23 masterpieces of the Italian XIX century painting, from Francesco Hayez to Giovanni Fattori, from Domenico and Girolamo Induno to Sebastiano De Albertis, from Gioacchino Toma to Angelo Trezzini, most of which are owned by the Cariplo Foundation while other paintings come from collectors living in the territory of Lecco. Some of these paintings are virtually exhibited in our ’Archive Galleries’.
