Italy in Florence
Italy in Florence. The Risorgimento in Tuscany
The exhibition presents a series of paintings to document the series of events between 27 April 1859 and 5 March 1860.
The Grand Duke Leopold II of Lorraine left Florence on 27 April 1859 and the Provisional Government of Tuscany, set up on the same day, decided in favour of joining the Kingdom of Piedmont and Savoy on 5 March 1860, thus marking the start of a new historical era.
The exhibition includes the painting 'The Arrival of News from Villafranca' by Domenico Induno from the Cariplo Collection.
