Giacomo Favretto. Venice, charm and enchantment

The first monographic exhibition devoted to Giacomo Favretto (Venice, 1849–1887), a leading figure in 19th-century painting in the Veneto region and one of the most important for the art of the period in Italy as a whole. A complete overview of the artist’s career featuring all of the most important works starting from his academic debut at the Venice Exhibition of 1887 and providing a practically unique opportunity to see masterpieces once owned by the Italian sovereign as well as paintings never previously lent by the museums and private collections to which they belong. The Cariplo Foundation is taking part in the exhibition with the loan of three paintings: Giacomo Favretto 'The Poultry Seller'; Guglielmo Ciardi, 'The Giudecca Canal'; Guglielmo Ciardi, 'A Gondola in the Lagoon'.
