From Hayez to Sironi
From Hayez to Sironi. modern painting in lombardy through the works of the Cariplo Collection
Launched as a joint initiative with the Pavia Chamber of Commerce, the exhibition presents the broader public with a sample of emblematic works from the Cariplo Collection selected to provide an overview of pictorial art during a span of two centuries. The approximately thirty paintings arranged in historical and chronological order prove particularly effective in pinpointing the changes in taste and vocabulary of modern painting in Lombardy from the Restoration to the post-war period, from Francesco Hayez to Mario Sironi. Works by Canella, Conconi, Induno, Sironi, Bianchi, Gola and Hayez exemplify the historical and cultural wealth of the region in the evocative setting of the Castle of Pavia.
